This was a commission for a bespoke bed base to be fitted into a corner of a room with the outside of a circular staircase to add a little bit more complexity.
I created a simple frame for the bed frame to rest on. Then started with a cardboard template transposed this on to two old pieces of Ikea kitchen cover panels, this allowed me to test how good a fit the cardboard template was. Multiple goes at removing little bits of the cover panels allowed me to get a good fit. The final bad base made out of 25mm thick ply only needed a small amount trimming off to fit perfectly.
The end of the bed was left as storage with a flap that could be opened. All the plywood was edged to give a good finish.
Forgot to get a picture with the headboard and shelf fitted.
The client wanted this left unpainted as they were planning on redecorating the whole room.
