A commission from Charnwood Forest Geopark to create Geopark Geopartners signs to be given to sponsors.
Charnwood Forest Geopark wanted a locally and produced personalised wooden gift that they could give to sponsors as a mark or recognition for their support.
Ash, from my volunteer work for Heartwood Community Woodland Group, was used for the gifts. The Ash planks were trimmed and cut before being glued together to make stock of the required size. This was then planed, thicknessed and sanded before cutting to the required lengths. Artwork for the engraving was supplied by Charnwood Forest Geopark, after engraving the edges of the blocks were rounded, followed by more sanding. Finally they were treated with two coats of Osmo Hardwax oil to enhance the visibility of the grain patterns in the wood and to provide a durable finish.
